Baker Consultants is a Derbyshire based, multi award-winning ecology consultancy that works across the UK providing ecological surveys and expert advice to the development industry, energy companies, land managers and the leisure industry. The team of expert ecologists at Baker Consultants have a highly innovative approach to the services they offer, leading the way across Europe with bioacoustic techniques. Managing Director, Andrew Baker, is a CIEEM Fellow and is also often called upon to give evidence as an expert witness at public inquiry.

Debbie’s team were brought on board to reinvigorate the company’s marketing. After a hiatus of online and offline activity, the client felt that the missing link in driving growth was due to this silence, and had resolved to commence marketing again.  As Andrew said, “We had become our own best kept secret.”

We set out by workshopping a digital marketing strategy to identify the channels that would be of best use to get Baker Consultants’ brand visible again. We also defined an immediate issue with wrongly posted negative reviews campaign which we set out immediately to correct. We’ve worked to a content marketing and social media marketing strategy since that point and have seen significant gains across the board, using company news and thought leadership pieces to position the brand within the ecology and planning/development industries.

Alongside this, and an absolutely integral element of our digital marketing successes, is the offline activity that has been running alongside. The brand has no lack of things to talk about, but has needed help in bringing their stories to the surface so that their audience can see it.  As content has been pulled together and then published and distributed, the online visibility for the brand has incrementally increased over the year. So too have quality inbound enquiries, with a couple of major contracts won during the year.

2020 – a year of pain for many across the UK – culminated for Baker Consultants with a double award win at the CIEEM 2020 Awards for excellence in the field of ecology.
