November hit us like a speeding train! We kicked off with an award on the first of the month, and then the awards ceremonies just kept rolling after that!
This isn’t just some glory post for us as a company (though we’ll be doing a bit of humble bragging it has to be said), but celebrates the achievements of our friends who’ve also excelled on the business awards circuit too.
So where have we been and what have we been up to?
We ushered in the month of November with the MAKE UK awards, held in the prestigious surroundings of the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham.
We are pretty good at putting together awards applications and so were asked to help Weiss Technik UK write an application for this hugely important event for peers in the MAKE UK network.
Helping them celebrate on the night itself was, of course, all part of the service! Well done guys (and gals!)
Stretton Manor Barn is a stunning barn wedding venue in the rolling countryside of Derbyshire. Steve and Mark Barnes are the team behind this venue that make sure *every detail is fully attended to at all times, and so it’s no surprise that every review by couples who have married there are second-to-none in their praise for what the brothers have built up since the lifting of restrictions after Covid.
In the second week of November, they headed off to the Wedding Industry Awards with fingers crossed and the whole team in tow. Getting a highly commended certificate for the ‘Best Event Team’ was a thrill, which was quickly eclipsed by the announcement they had won the ‘Best Wedding Barn’ category too!
As a regional winner for the East Midlands, the team will now have to polish those dancing shoes for the National Finals in January 2024 that will be taking place at the Underglobe, on Bankside in central London next year 🥂
The grass doesn’t grow under the feet of our friends at HECK, and new product development is like breathing air for the firm who like to experiment with flavours and new ideas on a constant and energetic roll. One such new product rolled out this year was the new Sweet Chilli Chicken flavour which hit Tescos stores in April.
The packaging design for HECK is bold and uncompromising and so it was a thrill to find a Silver Award for this product in the Grocer’s New Product & Packaging Awards 2023.
November. Week three. This time its our turn, where we were finalists in the ‘Best Micro Business’ category at the oh-so-prestigious British Business Awards 2023. MD, Debbie Porter, headed off to London for the awards which were to be held at the British Museum in the centre of London. Wow! What a place!
And wow, what a finalists list too. Although we didn’t bring home a win this time, we were awed by the businesses that were in the room. Debbie also made sure to maximise the ‘networking opportunity’ with some robust networking in a nearby pub for the after-party. We will be back next year!
The very next day, Debbie left central London and hot-footed it to Wembley for the National Business Women’s Awards 2023 where she was to sit as a judge. This was not an X-factor style judging though, and all the hard work had been done much earlier in the year to grade each entry as part of a matrix of judges awarding the rightful winners their awards.
Debbie was asked to present an award on the evening, and so was honoured to be able to present a gold award to gold award to Margaret Miles-Bramwell OBE in the Large Business category. And when we talk about the size of business in this category, they are pretty large indeed! Margaret founded Slimming World over 54 years ago and it’s a company that is still very much going strong.
We were thrilled to be announced finalists in the Forwards Ladies Awards 2023, and so that is the focus of this week, when the awards ceremony takes place this coming Friday in the heart of Leicester Square. We have our fingers crossed for a great result, but ultimately its all about being in the room for us. We’ve met so many inspiring and wonderful people at events across the country this year, and have forged bonds and relationships that pays back the effort of attending awards tenfold.
So although we would dearly love to bring home some silverware, we actually can’t wait to meet people we are yet to know this week and add even more people to our little black book!
