If you don’t catch it when you sign up for your account initially, you will find your website ecommerce tracking is measured in US dollars by default. But that’s ok! It’s rectifiable.

How do you change the default currency in Google Analytics to GBP?

Follow these steps:

  • Go to your Google Analytics account to the website that is showing in the wrong currency.
  • Click ‘Admin’ in the left hand navigation, then click ‘View settings’ in the rightmost column on the main screen.
  • Here there is a drop down that says ‘Currency displayed as’, so you select the currency you would like your reporting to show in.
(and since we are in the UK here it is most likely needed to be set to ‘British Pound (GBP £)’. This is also a faff to find in the non-alphabetical ordered list you are presented with so use the search function!)
  • Click ‘Save’ when you are done.
