That is why our Managing Director, Debbie Porter, gives her time to support initiatives that bring local businesses together. As a Board member of Business Peak District and the organiser of the Business Hub Club networking group in Bakewell, Debbie is involved in two events this November that put collaboration, shared expertise and practical business support at the heart of the agenda.
Destination Digital is proud to contribute our time and marketing expertise on a voluntary, no-fee basis to help make these opportunities happen.
Effective Business Collaborations
On Friday 6 November, business owners, directors and senior decision-makers from across the Peak District will come together at The Link Centre in Ashbourne for the Business Peak District Annual Conference.
This year’s theme is Effective Business Collaborations, exploring how businesses can work together to share expertise, strengthen their organisations and discover new opportunities.
As a Business Peak District Board member, Debbie has been helping with the marketing of the conference. She will also be sharing a practical case study on the day, demonstrating how collaboration can work at a local level.
Debbie’s case study will focus on the Business Hub Club in Bakewell, which evolved from an FSB networking group that Debbie established as an FSB Volunteer.
When FSB support for the group was withdrawn, there was a risk that a valuable opportunity for local businesses to meet regularly would disappear. Rather than let that happen, Debbie worked with other small businesses and local contacts to coordinate a way forward.
The result is the Business Hub Club, which continues to bring business owners together monthly at the Peak District Business Hub in Bakewell.
The story is a practical example of collaboration in action. By sharing responsibility, bringing people together and building on existing relationships, local businesses have helped sustain a networking opportunity that benefits the wider business community.
For Debbie, it is also an example of why business communities matter. Networking is about much more than exchanging business cards. It creates opportunities to share challenges, recommend trusted suppliers, learn from one another and develop relationships that can lead to future collaborations.
If you are a business owner or decision-maker interested in making better connections across the Peak District, the conference is an opportunity to hear real examples of collaboration and meet other businesses looking to work together.

Ask the Experts: An Open Question-and-Answer Panel for SMEs
Our second November event brings the collaboration theme closer to home.
On Wednesday 18 November, the Business Hub Club will join forces with Business Peak District for a special joint-badged networking session at the Peak District Business Hub in Bakewell.
Instead of a traditional presentation, we are bringing together a panel of six experts to give small and medium-sized businesses the opportunity to ask questions, explore challenges and access practical advice.
The aim is simple: to help local businesses find answers to the questions that matter to them, in a friendly and informal setting.
The panel will include Tracy Lewis, a financial controller with EFM; Steve Philips, Growth Hub Advisor for East Midlands Chamber; Christina Trindade, Business Advisor for Derbyshire Dales District Council; Tom Malpass from the University of Derby and our Managing Director, Debbie Porter who will be on hand to answer questions on marketing.
With a wide range of experts on hand attendees will be able to get burning questions answered. If you are coming along, then you can also submit your questions ahead of the event here: https://us21.list-manage.com/survey?u=f3ed009b863783ffe0e91d992&id=e8e211cd2a&e=*|UNIQID|*
Whether you are self-employed, running a growing small business or managing an established company, this is an opportunity to ask questions you might not otherwise have the chance to put to an expert.
You do not need to arrive with a polished question or a particular problem to solve. You can simply come along, meet other local businesses and take part in the conversation.
As always, the Business Hub Club is designed to be welcoming and accessible, with an emphasis on useful connections rather than a hard sell.

Places are limited, so we recommend registering in advance.
Destination Digital is a digital marketing consultancy, but our involvement in the Peak District business community goes beyond the services we provide to our clients.
We know that small businesses often operate with limited time and resources. Having access to a supportive network, relevant expertise and opportunities to learn from other business owners can be invaluable.
That is why Debbie gives her time to help organise and promote these events. From supporting the work of Business Peak District to coordinating the Business Hub Club, the focus is on creating opportunities for businesses to connect, learn and support one another.
We are particularly proud that the Business Hub Club has continued following the withdrawal of its previous support, demonstrating what can be achieved when local businesses take a collaborative approach.
Our contribution is made on a voluntary, no-fee basis. We see it as an investment in the business community in which Destination Digital operates, and a practical way to help create a stronger, more connected local economy.
Business Peak District shares this commitment to supporting businesses across the region, providing a collective voice for the business community and encouraging collaboration between organisations.
By working together, we can create more opportunities for businesses to build relationships, exchange knowledge and grow.
Whether you are an established business owner, newly self-employed or looking to expand your professional network, we would love to see you at one or both of our November events.
Join us in Ashbourne on 6 November to explore effective business collaborations, or come to Bakewell on 18 November to put your questions to our expert panel and meet fellow business owners.
You never know where a conversation might lead. Your next useful contact, trusted recommendation or business opportunity could begin with simply turning up.
