We love our clients, and we love what they do, so we wanted to shine a light on the retail clients we have to help you tick off a few gifts from your list whilst helping channel money away from giants like Amazon and towards some of the proudly independent companies we work with.
Whether it’s a secret Santa, or your main Christmas shopping list, there is something that might pique your interest in this article, so read on!
We all want to look our best as winter takes hold, so there are plenty of ideas from our friends at St Moriz who’ll perfect your skin tone as the daylight hours dwindle in the depths of winter. Everything in the St Moriz range is vegan and cruelty-free and they have gift set bundles on their website to choose the perfect gift for someone special’s Christmas stocking.
Faith In Nature have a whole range of shampoos and conditioners, body washes and lotions that are vegan, natural and ethically produced. New to the range this year is a range of natural beauty product gift sets that will give that special someone you know an introduction to some of the gorgeous fragrances in the product ranges. If you are looking for an unusual gift for dog lovers, you should also check out their doggy shampoo range too!
We found new friends this year in the form of Emily and Vicky, who are the brains behind local business Kit Change. Turning their backs on fast fashion, they are a two women tour de force asking us all to consider changing our kit to more sustainable options. The entire range of gym wear is sustainable and produced ethically from post-consumer plastic waste. With a focus on the needs of the female form, this range of activewear is also practical, flattering and comfortable and will last years and years.
The Hair Boss is a brand we’ve recently started working with, and we got the opportunity to try out some of their products. Famed for an Olaplex alternative that isn’t as harmful on the pocket as Olaplex, we can say from first-hand experience that the Double Hair Mask is all it is reputed to be! Put together with other hero products like the Gloss Treatments and the serums and scalp scrubs, and you could give the gift of a glossy mane to someone this Christmas.
If you are looking for a fashionable place to be seen, then a night out at The Northern Lights Cinema in Wirksworth is an experience you can gift to someone. A cosy, independent cinema screening a varied programme of films with sofas, snacks and drinks served in real glasses to your seat and there is even a special Blackpop box for a luxury cinema-going experience – what’s not to love?
Another place to visit that would make a very popular gift for someone, is Ambergate-based White Peak Distillery who offer distillery tours and tasting sessions, tailored around the spirits you love the most. Make sure to book in advance as these tours prove to be very popular!
Park Designs is a brand that is just ready for Christmas gifting ideas! Local designer, Si Homfray is the man behind the brand. He has poured his creative talents into each and every product design in his range that encompasses art prints, christmas cards, tea cups and saucers, aprons and stationery. The iconic Contour design mugs are a best seller and are much sought after by collectors who add another, and another, and another colourway to their collections at home. Take a look at the website right away and tick off quite a few people on your list.
The last order date for our friends at Curiousa & Curiousa has now passed, but these exquisite handblown glass lighting designs are a considered purchase of the highest order. With installations in public spaces and in the homes of the great and the good, you can while away many hours with your significant other home-owner making choices about your 2022 interior styling plans. Check out the website, order a brochure and make big plans.
Nothing says Christmas trimmings like Pigs In Blankets! Our friends at HECK will have a Chicks In Blankets twist on this Christmas Fayre favourite this year, that will be available in Morrisons stores, or direct from the HECK website. If you want a no-alcohol beer option this Christmas, you can also try out the HECK non-alcoholic IPA released earlier in the year. It’s delicious and just the ticket for drivers and non-drinkers who are fed up with drinking lots of sugary soft drinks at Christmas get togethers!
We worked with Lancashire Tea on a campaign earlier in the year to raise brand awareness for the company. There is much more to come in 2022, but in the meantime, you can bulk buy their tea bags for those Lancashirans that are ‘abroad’. Couple a box of tea with a Park Designs tea mug for the perfect cuppa in the perfect cup.
Christmas isn’t Christmas without a tipple or two of something warming. White Peak Distillery is about to make history – quite literally – by becoming the county’s, the Peak District’s and the East Midlands’ first English whisky producer. Advanced tastings and releases of the single malt have gathered an absolute army of fans who will snap up pre-orders for the early 2022 release. If you want in on the action, join their mailing list in the hope you will be able to secure a bottle. In the meantime you can sample their warming winter spiced gin, their cask aged dark rum, or try their gin range, including being able to order bespoke Shining Cliff Gin bottle for a gin lover in your life. Perfect for settling into an armchair by the fire with, shared with fine company.
Collectively, our good friends over at Mr Fothergill’s and Darlac have the ideal gardening gifts for all gardeners and green-thumbed friends. Darlac have a whole range of tools for pruning, lopping and shearing through the winter months, and hand tools and watering products to help you through the growing season. The indoor gardening hand tool set for houseplants and for working in a greenhouse are a great value, quality made stocking filler, or you might want to splash out on a Swop Top Pole system for someone.
No sooner will Christmas be over than the growing season kicks off again and this is where Mr Fothergill’s steps in. Buy a ‘New Year’s resolution’ set of seeds for someone, or help a gardening friend to get going on their growing by choosing from the range of seeds, accessories and gift items.
Just like our friends at Curiousa & Curiousa, our client Griffin Glasshouses produces a very considered purchase that definitely won’t fit into a Christmas stocking. If you have been thinking about improvements to your property, you might want to request a glasshouse brochure and starting making plans to add value to your home and transform your outdoor growing space with a luxury glasshouse design. Be warned though! Griffin Glasshouses are currently booking into early 2023 due to overwhelming demand, so to secure a build slot you need to forward plan!
Amazon is a beast that undercuts so many independent retailers and it has its fair share of naysayers, but it’s a beast that seemingly cannot be stopped. So if you really must spend your money with Amazon, make the switch to Amazon Smile and support our friends at Arts Derbyshire whilst you shop. If you have an account already (and who doesn’t?) then just click this link and then carry on with your shopping. You’ll raise cash for Arts Derbyshire at no extra cost or hassle to you. It’s a no brainer surely?
We also set up a Give As You Live account for our friends at Arts Derbyshire, which allows you to ‘Give As You Shop’. There are hundreds of High Street stores signed up for the scheme, where a percentage of what you spend online goes to the charity of your choice at no extra cost to you. Simply sign up, sign in and then start shopping and give to charity whilst you spend your hard earned cash on that special something you saw at House Of Fraser, John Lewis or Selfridges. Here are our friends Arts Derbyshire on the platform. We’d be super happy if you’d choose them as your charity for your Christmas shopping this year.
We have our Christmas Wishlist ready, do you?
