Our Friends At Charity SHE UK Have Won The People’s Projects Awards!

We have some friends locally, in the form of the amazing charity SHE UK. Destination Digital’s Managing Director, Debbie Porter volunteers her time for the charity and this month they have some very exciting news!

Our friends at SHE UK do amazing things for the local community, and they are located just up the road from us.  The small Mansfield-based team support adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse, rape and assault through a comprehensive range of therapeutic services, delivered from their small property in the centre of Mansfield town.

Winners of the ITV Calendar South region’s People’s Projects Awards

The charity was in the running, pitched against four others in the local area for a share of almost £250,000 of funding. We set to work, as did members of the Board, and the staff and supporters of SHE UK to bang the drum for the charity to help them win a share of this funding.

The money was intended to help facilitate the weekly sessions that run at the Mansfield-property where survivors come together to share their experiences and help each other as a group to become stronger and take back control of their lives to help them achieve their full potential and goals in life.

So it is with utter joy, that we can help announce that SHE UK have won more than £68,000 in the People’s Projects Awards which will be a transformative sum for the survivors supported by the charity.

Who are the charity SHE UK?

SHE UK are a charity that supports adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse, sexual violence and rape. Their key aim is to empower survivors to move forward from the devastating impacts that sexual abuse has had on their lives and to this end the charity offers:

• Telephone support for immediate support for people in crisis
• 1:1 counselling for men and women
• A weekly peer-support group for women

This charity provides a range of services and programs to survivors of childhood sexual abuse, including counselling, therapy, support groups, and advocacy services. They are committed to creating a safe and supportive environment where survivors can connect with others who have had similar experiences and access the resources they need to move forward.
