Our Friends Arts Derbyshire Present A Fundraising Evening Filled With Creativity & Fun!

We’ve had a long, long relationship with Arts Derbyshire over the past 18 years. They are *the* strategic arts charity for Derbyshire and their aim is to enrich people’s lives through the arts. We’re thrilled to be helping them with their very first fundraising event, which is to be held at the historic Masson Mills near Cromford. Read on to discover more!

When most people think about giving money to charities, arts charities aren’t usually their number one thought, especially when it comes to giving donations and helping them with their fundraising.

So, this begs the question, why should people support, donate and fundraise for Arts Derbyshire?

Arts Derbyshire supports audience development in the county, but this is so much more than just encouraging people to go to art exhibitions and shows.

A large strand of work for the charity is in the realm of Creative Health. Creative health is a discipline that brings arts practitioners together with health practitioners to improve the outcomes, health and wellbeing of people in the NHS healthcare system. A part of the Arts Derbyshire team has been heavily involved with social prescribing in the county, leading on shaping this strand of work and embedding the principles at the heart of how GPs view ‘prescribing’ enrichment activities that the arts offers in abundance, instead of reaching for the prescriptions pad to issue drugs.

The team has also run many different projects over the years, such as Matinee, a project that helped people living with dementia and Alzeheimers. The Necklace of Stars, aimed to help older people confronted by isolation and loneliness and was a lifeline for many during Covid19. The SingViva Carer’s Choir is a choir for carers across Derbyshire. Caring responsibilities can be a burden and this peer group offers a social outlet for people who find themselves in this role. DDance was a dance and movement project for people aged 55+, a class designed to improve co-ordination and balance to help against falls and improve mobility.

And so all these are other forms of participation in the arts have outcomes that aren’t just pretty pictures and amusement and entertainment in focus. But donations are needed to help the charity to carry on.

The Big Event At Masson Mills!

On the 25th of April, anyone who is anyone will congregate in the beautiful setting of Masson Mills in Cromford for Arts Derbyshire’s first ever fundraiser event!

It is due to be an incredible night of great fun in the company of creators and makers in Derbyshire, so we’re inviting you to come along and join in the fun too.

👀 Doors open at 7pm. There are some incredible performers who will be showcasing their talent including:

  • the raindogs, who are a Derby-based band. They play an eclectic mix of covers and originals and really know how to put on a show!
  • Mairead Rutter O’Connor will lead a performance that is described as “taking the audience to a world where possibilities are shifted”.
  • Last but most definitely not least we have the amazing and prestigious spoken word poet; Mark Gwynne Jones! Mark is well known for his mind-altering and award-winning poetry, and with 4 festival fringe awards under his belt, he doesn’t intend to slow down anytime soon.

The event will be a spectacular evening and the ticket price also includes street food, a glass of wine, an art sale and exhibition. All of this for just £30! What more could you ask for? 🤷‍
