Celebrating the Success of Arts Derbyshire’s Festivity Arts Showcase… and There’s More to Come In September

We’re taking the opportunity again to shine a very proud light on Festivity! Our friends over at Arts Derbyshire have had a brilliant run this year with Festivity, a celebration of Derbyshire’s artistic talent, and we’re excited to say there’s still more to enjoy!

We’ve worked with Arts Derbyshire for many years, working behind the scenes to keep this brilliant charity doing what it’s best at: encouraging more people to enjoy arts in their daily lives. Since working with Arts Derbyshire, our team has been providing a great range of services, such as:

  • Social media strategy and management
  • Content creation for web, blogs, and press
  • Campaign branding support
  • Collaborative announcements with partner organisations
  • Web development, website build and migration
  • Training and support for staff and members of the public
  • Audience development insights and engagement tracking
  • And more – everything we can do to help keep the vibrant arts scene in Derbyshire advocated for and integrated into the public!

Whilst Arts Derbyshire celebrates many arts festivals that take place in the county, Festivity is Arts Derbyshire’s very own arts-orientated festival. Delivered in partnership with a number of local arts organisations. Derbyshire’s finest artists, musicians and performers have been brought together to showcase their talents.

With successful runs in Bolsover, Ilkeston, and Staveley, look forward to more fun to round off the summer, with Festivity coming to Tapton Lock on the 6th and 7th September, then at the other end of the county, in Melbourne, on the weekend of the 20th – 21st September.

We’re proud to continue leading the digital marketing and content strategy for the Festivity campaign.

We’ve been helping the team showcase the talent that’s been brought together by the team including: storytelling curated by Adverse Camber, beautiful music from a variety of musicians, workshops to get stuck into, powerful spoken word curated by Derby Poetry Festival, and of course, the beauty of Derbyshire to admire!

The Tent People have created a mini tented village that has been on tour, and will continue to pop up in Tapton Lock and Melbourne in the coming month.

Now that you know what Festivity’s all about, and what our part in it is, you may be wondering what you can look forward to at Tapton Lock and Melbourne in the coming weeks. Read on to get your answer!

Coming up first, look forward to Festivity at Tapton Lock, taking place by the waterside as part of the Tapton Lock Festival.

  • For music fans: If you’re a fan of discovering new talent, you’re in luck, as Michael Vickers and Sarah Hinds will be creating a musical atmosphere across the two days, with Michael performing on the 6th September, and Sarah performing on the 7th: much to look forward to!
  • For arts lovers: for a hands-on experience, look forward to workshops – Saturday brings you an awesome printmaking workshop led by Nicki Dennett, where you’ll use natural materials to create your very own prints, and Sunday’s workshop is Paola DeGio’s unique marbling art. To admire Derbyshire’s finest artists, look forward to the digital exhibition which has been touring with Festivity across Derbyshire!
  • For spoken word enthusiasts: Tapton Lock brings a brilliant storytelling and spoken word line-up, with Ian Douglas and Camille McCawley bringing you their captivating words. Thank Arts Derbyshire’s partners Derby Poetry Festival and Adverse Camber for this awesome opportunity to see them!

Now we move on to the opposite end of the county, where Festivity is taking place in the south of Derbyshire, in Melbourne, as part of Melbourne Festival.

  • Get creative with curated workshops from Creative Melbourne, where you can create your own letterpress bookmarks in workshops from The Smallprint Company, and engage in Flower Power workshops coordinated by Jo Rost!
  • Gain a new perspective with spectacular storytelling and spoken word from Rachel Murray, Dan Webber, Aoife O’Connor and Sonia Burns, curated by Arts Derbyshire’s partners in Festivity, Adverse Camber and Derby Poetry Festival!
