A Short Guide on the Dos and Don’ts of Trending Audios

Don’t know which trending audio to use for your 15 seconds of fame on TikTok and Instagram? Here’s a guide of old, current and new songs to up your social media reach, as well as some tips on what to use and what not to use.

I’m Jess, and I’m a work experience student here at Destination Digital. All of this is just a bit of help and is solely my opinion, influenced by what’s trending on TikTok and Instagram right now, as well suggestions from others online. This blog is a part of my tasks for the week whilst I’m here on work experience, so this is something new for me, but anyway, let’s get started!

The song or sound you use all depends on the content you’re posting and who your target audience is. This blog will just give you a couple tips and tricks of what to do and how to do it.

It isn’t hard to go viral on TikTok, Leah Halton got 875M views on a video she simply lip-synced to, so, why can’t you do the same? So far in the last month, Sabrina Carpenter has made her mark with her song Espresso then Please Please Please. These two songs have stuck around for quite some time now, so it won’t be shocking if their reign remains. There are some artists that weren’t as lucky as her and they had a couple audios that fell just as quickly as they rose. Such audios are:

I wouldn’t advise using any of these sounds as they already have so many users, so your videos would likely go unnoticed by the public unless you have some very special feature like a celebrity or something similar.

Anyways, out with the old and in with the new! Here’s what’s currently trending:

Using these sounds may guarantee you a couple likes, although I’m uncertain on the number of views and the extent of which it’ll go. Based on recent research, the next expected trending audios would be:

  • Apple – Charli XCX: this is used as a dance and it is expected to become viral due to the already growing use of the sound.
  • Double Life – Pharrell Williams: this is expected to go viral because of the release of the long awaited Despicable Me 4. The song has also been teased on TikTok in the trailer and so far it’s had a positive outcome. This would also likely be used in edits.
  • A sound of a polish man shouting: this is expected to trend as many users can put this sound over their own video and claim they heard something funny. There’s already over 200 posts using the sound, with people just pretending they heard it. One got over 800k views after only 24 hours.
  • Tupac Back (feat. Rick Ross) – Meek Hill & Rick Ross: this is becoming a trend as it’s being used as a meme and who doesn’t love a meme!

Instagram (most of the links will lead to the video with the song more suited to this)

Most of the sounds that go viral on Instagram tend to have moved across from TikTok. However, there are some sounds that are significant to each platform depending on the audience. On Instagram, you often find less videos of people lip-syncing, as this is something TikTok’s users do more of due to its predominantly younger demographic.

Here’s some past trending sounds on Instagram:

Also, here’s what I predict to trend soon!
